Homomorphisms between Diffeomorphism Groups
For r ≥ 3, p ≥ 2, we classify all actions of the groups Diffc(R) and Diff+(S) by Cdiffeomorphisms on the line and on the circle. This is the same as describing all nontrivial group homomorphisms between groups of compactly supported diffeomorphisms on 1-manifolds. We show that all such actions have an elementary form, which we call topologically diagonal. As an application, we answer a question...
متن کاملList Decoding Group Homomorphisms Between Supersolvable Groups
We show that the set of homomorphisms between two supersolvable groups can be locally list decoded up to the minimum distance of the code, extending the results of Dinur et al who studied the case where the groups are abelian. Moreover, when specialized to the abelian case, our proof is more streamlined and gives a better constant in the exponent of the list size. The constant is improved from ...
متن کاملDiffeomorphism groups of critical regularity
Let M be a circle or a compact interval, and let α “ k ` τ ě 1 be a real number such that k “ tαu. We write Diff`pMq for the group of orientation preserving Ck diffeomorphisms of M whose kth derivatives are Hölder continuous with exponent τ. We prove that there exists a continuum of isomorphism types of finitely generated subgroups G ď Diff`pMq with the property that G admits no injective homom...
متن کاملQuantum and Braided Diffeomorphism Groups
We develop a general theory of ‘quantum’ diffeomorphism groups based on the universal comeasuring quantum group M(A) associated to an algebra A and its various quotients. Explicit formulae are introduced for this construction, as well as dual quasitriangular and braided R-matrix versions. Among the examples, we construct the q-diffeomorphisms of the quantum plane yx = qxy, and recover the quant...
متن کاملFactor Representations of Diffeomorphism Groups
General semifinite factor representations of the diffeomorphism group of euclidean space are constructed by means of a canonical correspondence with the finite factor representations of the inductive limit unitary group. This construction includes the quasi-free representations of the canonical commutation and anti-commutation relations. To establish this correspondence requires a non-linear fo...
